I think with YouTube it would be pretty sophisticated, 1 like = 1 karma, 1 dislike = -1 karma, 1 view = .01 - 2 karma (dependent on watch time), and then the same for comment karma so maybe people with more comment karma have a better chance of being seen by others in comment sections.
