Then plug the vacuum advance in to a manifold source, set the idle speed to somewhere around 600 rpm and run through your lean-best idle procedure with the mixture screws. So yes, as it is independent of mechanical advance, it adds advance based on load as profiled by the manifold vacuum. Less load = more vacuum = more advance, which is appropriate regardless of mechanical advance.
